Yes We CAN!!!

I feel like I have "unyielding hope" again. I hate to admit it but the last eight years had totally eroded my hope in American politics, justice and American intelligence. Today, I feel vindicated and hopeful.

I started elementary school in 1968, the year that Beaumont, Texas integrated it's school system. I can remember first grade being tense, but I didn't understand why. I still don't understand how intelligent people can think there are differences among us based solely on the color of our skin. And I grew up with the best of integration's intentions, I did not know a day when certain people could not go to the best schools.

Today, I see the end of integration, the end of that nasty, ignorant time in history and I see the beginning of a new world, hope and solidarity in the United States for the first time in a long time. May President Obama lead us with honesty, integrity, and wisdom.
